Description for Nile Cruise from Luxor to Aswan 8 Days/ 7 Nights

  • First day

Upon arrival in Luxor, in the morning you will be checked into your 5-star Nile cruise ship. Our qualified English-speaking Egyptologist will give you a warm welcome and will accompany you throughout your journey and during your visits.

In the afternoon we go to the first two temples to visit on this 5 Days 4 Nights Nile Cruise from Luxor to Aswan.

The Karnak temple is not just a temple building, but one of the largest temple complexes with different areas. Here the holy family of Thebes Amun-Ra, his wife Mut and son Chonsou were immortalized. The papyrus column hall with 134 columns was completed by Ramses II and is one of the most important parts of the complex.

The Luxor Temple is also a notable structure. This temple was built by Amenhotep III and Ramses II. The avenue of sphinxes in front of him connected the temples of Karnak and Luxor, then was covered with sand, and is now open again.

After the sightseeing tour, you will board the Nile cruise ship again.

    Second day

Today’s program includes the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. It starts shortly after breakfast.

The Valley of the Kings is the burial place of many high figures of Ancient Egypt. So far, 64 graves have been discovered here. Among other things, in 1922, the tomb of Tut-Ench-Amon with all the golden treasures. Today they can be seen in the Egyptian Museum.

The Temple of Hatshepsut was built in terraces in the rock. Hatshepsut has always been depicted as a man, which is clearly seen from the statues inside. The temple was built by the architect Senenmut in 1470 BC. Chr.

The two great colossi of Memnon are two ancient Egyptian statues sitting side by side. They are about 18 m high and date back to the 14th century BC. The Colossi of Memnon belong to Amenhotep III and were located at the entrance to his temple.

In the afternoon, the Nile cruise ship departs for Edfu, where you will spend the night.

    Third day

On the third day of your 5 Days 4 Nights Nile Cruise from Luxor to Aswan you will visit Edfu temple, drive to Kom Ombo and visit the temple there.

Edfu Temple is located on the outskirts of the city of Edfu and is dedicated to the god Horus. It is also called the Temple of Horus. Under Pharaoh Ptolemy III in 237 BC. the construction of the temple began.

After sightseeing, take a boat ride to Kom Ombo.

Kom Ombo Temple, located on the east bank of the Nile, is a unique double temple complex in Egypt. It was dedicated to the deities Gor the Elder and Sobek.

In the afternoon we continue towards Aswan where you will stay overnight.

    Fourth day

Today, on the fourth day of your 5-day Nile Cruise, you will visit Aswan, the Philae Temple, the Unfinished Obelisk and the High Dam.

Aswan sightseeing tour will show you a city of great charm and beauty. Then we go to the temple of Philae.

The Temple of Philae was originally built on the island of Philae, but had to be moved after the island was flooded due to the construction of a high dam. Today it stands on the island of Aglika. The main part is dedicated to the goddess Isis and the child Horus.

The unfinished obelisk is located in a quarry near Aswan. Had it been completed, it would have been 41.75 meters high. It is still not clear for which temple it was intended.

Then admire the high dam behind which is Lake Nasser.

Overnight you will spend again in Aswan.

    Fifth day

After breakfast we drive to Abu Simbel with two rock temples, Ramses II Temple and Nefertari Temple. Both are on Lake Nasser and had to be moved about 62 meters higher between 1964 and 1968 due to a dam.

After visiting the temples of Abu Simbel, you will return to the Nile cruise ship and your 5-day Nile cruise will come to an end.
